Who We Are
Neighbors Investing in the Neighborhood
Our mission started back in 2020 as a grassroots startup. A small group of dedicated locals came together and realized that they had a common vision, to make Northern Michigan a thriving community for generations. That group became what is now known as InvestMitt Cooperative.

After four years of grassroots organizing and community brainstorming, InvestMitt was officially founded as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in 2024. Now, we aim to make that founding vision a reality.
We believe that everyone—no matter their income—deserves a say in how their community grows, a fair opportunity to invest in its future, and access to housing they can afford. Through InvestMitt, everyday people can come together to fund housing solutions, keep profits local, and build lasting community wealth.

For too long, securities laws made it easy for the wealthy to invest, while everyday people were left with limited options. But the tides are turning.
Over the past decade, the rules have begun to shift—and so has the opportunity. In that spirit, InvestMitt is opening the door for regular, retail investors to step beyond national mutual funds and start investing in something more meaningful and closer to home.
