About InvestMitt
Neighbors Investing in Our Neighborhoods
InvestMitt is setting a national example with a local focus
After four years of bottum-up, grassroots organizing, InvestMitt was officially founded as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in 2024, by a small group of dedicated individuals who just want our Northern Michigan community to be a better place for future generations—starting now.
With the support of the National Coalition for Community Capital (NC3), a Rural Readiness Grant from the State of Michigan, expert guidance from Pathlight Law, and 50 civic-minded community members and volunteers, we’re poised to launch our investment fund and make a lasting impact in 2025.
We believe that everyone—no matter their income—deserves a say in how their community grows, a fair opportunity to invest in its future, and access to housing they can afford. Through InvestMitt, everyday people can come together to fund housing solutions, keep profits local, and build lasting community wealth.

OUR MISSION
InvestMitt exists to support, finance, and collectively acquire real estate and other assets in Northern Michigan to invest in a more prosperous future.
What does InvestMitt look like in practice?

Local Wealth Building
When the profits from development and economic activity stay in the hands of the people who live, work, and play in the community, something powerful happens. That money doesn’t just stop—it flows, grows, and multiplies, creating opportunities, stability, and shared success for everyone.
We’re here to spark that momentum, building wealth together and creating a future where prosperity is felt by all.
More of Us Can Be Investors
For too long, securities laws made it easy for the wealthy to invest, while everyday people were left with limited options. But the tides are turning.
Over the past decade, the rules have begun to shift—and so has the opportunity. In that spirit, InvestMitt is opening the door for regular, retail investors to step beyond national mutual funds and start investing in something more meaningful and closer to home.

Co-Ownership & Cooperative Spirit
InvestMitt works on a cooperative model built on democratic governance and equity. If you become a member, you can give your voice and help steer the ship. One member, one vote.
This way, all of us can have a say in how InvestMitt moves forward as an organization and shapes Northern Michigan, regardless of background or income.
